Are You Ready Enough?
Posted by Reyn | November 12, 2008
Although the principle “ready, fire, aim” is the mindset you should adopt, many people just simply taking network marketing too lightly.
Instead of being courageous marketers, they become ignorant daredevils.
They jump in unprepared with the hope that they can somehow hit the jackpot and succeed big time. This is the wrong attitude for network marketing beginners.
You’ve got to have a plan. The plan don’t have to be perfect at first, but you must have one to begin with. If you don’t plan, then you plan to fail.
The first step which is being “ready”, requires you to have three basic elements in place. I haven’t seen anyone who made it big time in network marketing that do not have these:
Numerical Goals
When you measure your goals with numbers, you are very clear in what you want to get. The clearer the vision, the more focused your mind and efforts will be. Finally, it will leads to effective strategies and actions. If you want to succeed in network marketing, you must set specific and measurable targets in numbers such as $100,000 or 5,000 downline.
With these numbers in mind, you can have a better vision in planning your strategies. Like “How many people must I sponsor each month?”, “How many hours must I invest in the business?”, “Which advertising campaign must I run?”, “How much money I must invest each month?” and “Who will be the best mentor to get the learning curve faster?”
Limited Timeframe
It’s human nature to always procrastinate until the last moment. If you don’t set a time limit to your goals, chances are you will never start until the day you face financial difficulties, which might be too late then. After specifying your network marketing goals, mark a deadline to achieve them. You might want to push the deadline as soon as possible, but also make sure your time frame is corresponding to the time and money you willing to invest for this business. If you want to make $10,000 per month with only 2 hours per week and $500 to spare, don’t expect to get it in one year or less.
Workable System
The possibility of your goals and deadline will be measured by the system you use. It’s possible to make $500/month by next year, but it’s also plausible to generate $10,000/month in 3 months. The key is in the system. Obviously, you can’t expect to make any money if in the first place, you don’t know what strategy you’re going to employ. Take your time in finding the right system. I know someone who found it in 1 hour, but I also know others who found it after 3 or 5 years. I can’t guarantee you to find it in the first try, but I’m sure you will find it if you will just stay long enough in the business. Trust me, when you found it, your income will explode wildly.
Lastly, the last thing you need to do is to write your goals and deadline on places that you often see. I placed mine on the wall, next to my computer screen, so that each time I take my eyes off the monitor for a break, I will certainly see it. I also placed them on my cell phone screen saver. It’s a powerful reminder as we often get side-tracked by many distractions in our life. In the end, with all things being equal, what counts the most is persistency and consistency in reaching your goals.

We’ve all heard the statistic that 97% of small business owners or work at home entrepreneurs fail. This is a calamity and has to change. It’s not that people aren’t smart but many who sign up to various business opportunities do so on an emotional high and don’t really think things through. These are questions I suggest everyone ask themselves before jumping into anything blindly, and I am positive statistics will change.
Why do you want to be in business for yourself?
What will you need to do to be successful?
How much time and energy can you consacrate to building your company?
How much sacrifice are you prepared to make (personally, financially)?
How much risk can you afford to take (personally, financially)?
If everyone approached business realistically and was willing to do everything it takes, even if results don’t come quickly (which is almost always the case) we would have many more success stories. Avoid ”get rich quick scams” and hype at all cost!!!!! Keep your eye on the prize, work hard, work consistently, work smart. Be passionate about whatever it is you are promoting. Be real and you can be successful. Just be realistic and know how deep the water is before jumping in. Success to all level-headed leaders!
