Be Careful Of The Double-Edged Sword In Network Marketing

Posted by Reyn | October 22, 2008

For those joining network marketing, they like the nature of this business. You set your own time, your own effort and even your level of income.

It’s getting the freedom to build your own business while waiting for the bigger freedom which is financial independence.

But this freedom to be your own boss is actually a double-edged sword. If you are not careful, it might cause you to bleed both your time and money.

Basically there are three possible dangerous consequences in being the boss of your own.

You Look For Too Much Information

Most people joining network marketing for the first time do not have any clue or whatsoever about marketing and selling their business. They usually do the seemingly smart way to start off - they look out for information from every corner of the internet.

But because they don’t know how to differentiate between important and useless information, they can’t tell whether they have got enough preparation to start or not. They normally keep looking until they find the secret trick, underground technique or killer tip - a clear cut way to success that does not exist.

Ultimately, they reach the the state of information overload. When people are overloaded with information, they become confuse; and when they are confused, trust me, they will do nothing. No action, no result. It’s that simple.

My advice is not trying to know everything beforehand. Get the basic of how network marketing works and start marketing your business. Even if you face failure, you can take feedback and rethink your strategy. Your principle must be “Ready, Fire, Aim!”

You Slack and Neglect The Business

Many network marketers are employees who are used to receive direction from their boss on what to do and when it needs to be done. But in this business, they suddenly become the boss and most people will say, “That’s great! I can work where I like, when I want to and how I desire it’s done.” Being able to set your own time, pace and effort is great provided you have the discipline.

I’ve seen many people joining network marketing complain that they have no time or too tired to do the business. But it’s not that they don’t have time, they won’t make time for it. I mean, we all are living under the same 24 hours a day cycle, yet there are some people that can consistently build their business everyday. Even 1 hour per day is good enough.

The key is in your motivation. What made you join in the first place? Is it to gain financial freedom? More time for your family? If those reasons are strong enough, you will make time and effort to get your business up and running.

You Run Out of Money

As this is probably their first business ever, many network marketers do not have the basic skill of cash flow management. They ended up having negative cash flow and losing money every single month. The problem is not lack of income, but too much expenses.

They usually fall into ‘buying frenzy’ mode - purchasing everything that looks important, hoping that after absorbing those materials, they will get everything back by next month.

The truth is, judging from many heavy hitters experience, network marketing is less likely to generate positive cash flow right from the first month. Usually from the third to sixth month, you can expect to start getting a decent amount of income.

The objective is stay in the game long enough, hence you need to have secondary source of income to finance your first few months in the business. Selling affiliate products and displaying Google AdSense ads are great choices.

Can you tell me who did your layout? I’ve been looking for one kind of like yours. Thank you.

I created most of it myself. But here’s one template that closely resembles mine:
