This Is Why You Should Not Join Network Marketing

Posted by Reyn | February 12, 2009

I don’t know about you, but I have received so many emails from people asking me to join my business…but not in the way I expected them to be.

Just a few days earlier, someone was asking me about my network marketing opportunity. He said, “Reyn, I just look at your offer and I’m interested to join. But I can’t afford the monthly payment.”

Previously, someone even approached my with a heart-breaking story. She said…

“Reyn, I just been fired from my company and I have to look for my sick mother as well. Please help me, I need to get at least $1,000 per month by next month in order to survive.”

Now, I’m not trying to be harsh here, but I’m not running a government social organization. I’m running a business to help entrepreneurs build their own businesses…but not out of desperation.

I do care about her problem and that’s why I declined her offer to join me. If your economy is that unstable, you’d better be looking for another job.

I don’t know why some people think this way, but if you decide to join network marketing because you’re desperate to quick-fix your financial trouble, you’re coming to the wrong place.

Oh! Wait a sec…I think I know why…

Do You Lead With The Product Or The Opportunity?

Posted by Reyn | February 9, 2009

About a couple of weeks ago, I received a feedback from one of my blog readers. He pointed out an interesting topic.

“Where are your resources on how to build a retail base to a mlm business - the foundation to a legal and honest business which is not focused solely on recruiting people as the title of this blog is focused on - leads and sign ups. I can not find good information which focuses on the importance of retail as every one is more concerned with building downlines or what at the end of the day are product based pyramid schemes … very little retailing by dist. and leaders not teaching it.”

As far as I remember, this topic is as old as the network marketing itself, but this is still the most common debate in this industry. So I want to clarify this in today’s post. Additionally, I also want to bring it up a bit further by answering the classic question: do you lead with the product or the opportunity?

Here’s my view…

First of all, regardless of whether you’re retailing the product or promoting the opportunity, you definitely need leads and ultimately customers (sign ups is more common for the opportunity sde). The difference is just in what you’re offering to your prospects - the benefits of your products OR the opportunity to build your own business.

Having said that, yes, the contents of this blog is focused more on helping people to get leads and sign ups for the opportunity side of MLM. Now, if you’re saying that my way of doing business is a pyramid scheme, you might want to reconsider.

I Love Your Comments!

Posted by Reyn | February 6, 2009

Today, I want to sincerely thank you for all your participation in discussion through your comments.

Since the beginning of this blog, many of you have given so much valuable feedback to me. I just want to tell you that I have always been reading every comment you give and I’m grateful for that.

Now, it’s my turn to give something for you. As part of my appreciation, I have implemented some incentives in this blog for your active commenting:

  1. Top Commentators List

If you haven’t noticed yet, a couple of weeks ago I put a list of most active commentators in this blog, sorted by the number of comments given. For bonus, I don’t put the nofollow tag in this list. So you can get a bit of page rank by being listed. As it’s a reward for active commentators, the list will only count your comments in the last 30 days.

  2. DoFollow Tag

I have also installed Lucia’s Linky Love in this blog. Basically, this plugin will strip the default nofollow tag to your site in the comment section after a certain number of accepted comments. I set the number to 5, so after your fifth post, the nofollow tag to your site will be removed for the future comments.

  3. Last Blog Post Snippet

With CommentLuv plugin, every time you post a comment on this blog, it will try to find you latest blog post and then display the title with the link below your comment. This is a good way to showcase your related posts to this community.

Although my intention is to encourage commenting and reward active commentators, I’m sure there will be some people who will take the advantage of this incentives in the wrong way and spam my blog. To encounter such behavior, I will enforce tighter rules on my blog commenting policy:

Part 3 - How To Start Branding Yourself On The Internet

Posted by Reyn | February 3, 2009

This is part three of the three installment series on personal branding.

In this last part of personal branding series, I want to specifically cover the action steps that one should do in order to start building a strong personal brand.

First of all, you need to understand that personal branding is not only meant for famous or successful people. It’s a powerful concept that specifically target every day people on how to start creating their own brands.

So contrary to the myth, personal branding is extremely important for any one…and it’s doable for all Joes and Janes out there.

Basically, here’s the four main steps you need to do to start crafting your powerful personal brand on the internet.

  1. Always Use Your Real Name And Picture

No matter where I look at it, there are always people using keywords as their name. Some even use pictures of money. Don’t do that! You are here to connect with people who might be your friends and hopefully business partners. And to build such relationship, transparency is crucial to build trust. Use your real name and picture whenever you can.

There are exception to this though. If you’re well known for a certain nickname, like Stone Evans “The Home Biz Guy” , then it’s ok to use it. However, avoid generic name like “Making Money Online” or “Internet Millionaire”. It’s just plain stupid to use this kind of names. Remember that you’re dealing with real people on the internet. They mostly eager to get to know new people, but avoid money-minded people like plague.

Part 2 - The Science Of Personal Branding

Posted by Reyn | January 31, 2009

This is part two of the three installment series on personal branding.

What makes people trust more on personal brand rather than company brand?

A promise.

A personal brand tells prospects what they can expect by dealing with you. It’s an unspoken covenant between you and the prospects that builds a “when I buy this, I’ll be getting that” kind of trust.

Why? Because when you use yourself as the business brand, you have more at stakes. Your business can come and go. Today you join company A, tomorrow company B and so on. No problem about that as each company will always be new and any mistakes in the previous companies will be cleanse away. But you are here to stay! If you mess up, you have more to lose than just a business - your reputation.

Reputation can be defined as the way people judge someone based on everything he/she does. Most people guard their reputation as if it’s their own lives, because once you lose it, it can takes lifetime to repair. So when one’s reputation is on the line, you know that he/she will do whatever it takes to keep it upright. Consciously or unconsciously, people understand this basic human behavior. That’s why people trust personal brand more than a company brand.

Part 1 - What Exactly Is Personal Branding?

Posted by Reyn | January 27, 2009

This is part one of the three installment series on personal branding.

Let me ask you a question…

When prospects are contemplating to join network marketing business, which one do they consider the most - the company who runs the program or the person who will become their sponsor?

The network marketing world has gone a tremendous paradigm shift. Today, no longer people choose companies…they choose people. Why? Because a company can give you so much as good product and payplan, while a person can give the support and mentoring that you really NEED to succeed.

With this mindset in mind, whose brand should you endorse the most when prospecting - your company or yourself?

The choice is obvious, but many distributors just don’t know how to brand themselves the right way. They seek to be a better advertiser, a better marketer, a better prospector, a better closer, a better leads generator and a better at everything. But do you know what they’re actually doing? They just become the same as any other people, just a bit better. In the end, they are still networkers. Not wrong, but that’s not what the game is all about.

The Online MLM Mastermind Newsletter Is Here!

Posted by Reyn | January 23, 2009

The year 2008 for me was a year full of excitements, especially in the way the network marketing industry is evolving. Gone are the days of pitching your friends and family to attend hotel meetings and cold-calling strangers. Today’s network marketing is played in a very different field - the internet.

Although the use of internet is not a new idea in this industry, the fact remains that many networkers are still struggling to infuse this technology into their business. Online network marketing is not just about setting up a website and praying that people will just flock in immediately. What worst is that many online network marketers only know how to advertise blatantly in forums, blogs and social networking sites (a.k.a. spamming). And if you’re not careful, you might spend a fortune instead of gaining one.

I know exactly how it feels to spend thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours using many different methods that actually don’t work. I was in that position once and that’s why it has brought me a huge amount of education and experience to be who I am today.

Seriously, education is the most important element every networkers must have. But to just get out and do it without proper knowledge and skills can kill your business in no time. It’s like throwing yourself into an unknown jungle without any equipments or trainings. That’s the reason why I created this newsletter.

The Online MLM Mastermind newsletter is content-packed with tons of action-oriented information that you can put into work immediately to build your MLM business completely online. I will also share with you a lot of methods I’m using that has bring me real results as well as those mistakes that had cost me a lot time and money - so you can avoid those pitfalls and concentrate on methods that work.

Here’s some of the lessons that you can learn inside:

So make sure you sign up for the Online MLM Mastermind newsletter by entering your first name and email address and click “Yes! Sign me up” button on the top sidebar on your right.
